Cattani suggests the AC 300 for 3 dental units. Its 3 cylinders deliver 238 Nl/min at 5 bar into a 45 litre tank, factory set to work between 6 and 8 bar. Each cylinder gives about 60 l/min, and Cattani advises leaving spare capacity so the air drier can regenerate and the pump can cool. For 4 to 5 units, look at the AC 400.
Yes. The pistons run without oil, and the built-in drier cools the air in a heat exchanger, removes condensate in a cyclone and dries it in a silica gel column, then filters it through sintered bronze and an antibacterial HEPA H14 filter. The drier regenerates itself after every cycle, and the 45 litre tank is coated inside with an antibacterial resin approved for food contact.
The standard AC 300 is rated 73.6 dB(A). The AC 300 Q, with Cattani's noise-reducing plastic cover, is rated 68 dB(A) and measures W 720 x D 600 x H 970 mm. Cattani's soundproof cabinet cuts about 20 dB(A), fits the AC 300 and measures W 840 x D 700 x H 887 mm.
Cattani's 60 Hz version of the AC 300 runs on 220 V, 60 Hz, single phase, drawing 1.75 kW and 12.2 A. An earth connection is required. Plug it straight into its own outlet, never an extension cord or power bar, and confirm the circuit with your electrician before installation.
Both are oil-free, with a built-in air drier and an antibacterial HEPA H14 filter. The AC 200 has 2 cylinders, a 30 litre tank and delivers 160 Nl/min, suggested for 2 dental units. The AC 300 has 3 cylinders, a 45 litre tank and delivers 238 Nl/min, suggested for 3 dental units. The AC 300 is a little larger (W 620 x D 520 x H 750 mm, 65 kg, against W 620 x D 460 x H 720 mm and 54 kg). For 4 to 5 units, look at the AC 400.
Choose by the number of dental units working at once. The AC 300 suits 3 (238 Nl/min, 45 litre tank, 1 air drier) and the AC 400 suits 4 to 5 (320 Nl/min, 100 litre tank, 2 air driers). The AC 400 is much larger at W 1155 x D 550 x H 745 mm and 112 kg, so check the space in your plant room.
Cattani recommends a plant room that patients and untrained staff cannot enter, kept between +5 Β°C and +35 Β°C, with a mandatory earth connection, a floor drain and no flammable materials stored nearby. Above 35 Β°C the air drier works less well and the compressor wears faster. A trained technician should install and test the unit, and Cattani recommends a closed loop of insulated copper pipe to keep the pressure steady and the air clean.
Cattani's manual asks for a few simple checks. Open the drain tap under the tank from time to time and look for moisture, check the cooling fans every 12 months, and replace the HEPA H14 filter every 12 months in a clean environment. A trained technician should inspect the compressor every 6 to 12 months, depending on workload, using genuine Cattani parts. A normal charge takes about 45 to 55 seconds, followed by a rest of about a third of that time.
